Chad Follis joined Hummert International in 2021 as the Director of Educational Resources. He started a mowing and landscape business at age 11 that lead to a career in horticulture. He has worked in garden center retail, turfgrass management, consulting, education and wholesale supply over his career. In his current position Chad leads internal and external training, conference and organizational outreach and K-12 promotion.
He obtained his B.S in Agriculture (plant science), M.S. in Horticulture and Ed. D in Education Leadership and Policy Analysis all degrees coming from the University of Missouri (MIZZOU). This knowledge led to 13 years in community college horticulture education. Chad was an instructor, professor, Department Chair and Division Chair of Science, Agriculture and Math. He also oversaw the campus greenhouses, sports fields, beehives, pollinator gardens and assisted with campus landscapes.
Chad has been recognized for his community work by Farmington Public Schools and the Mizzou Alumni Association – Parkland Chapter. He has received the Award for Leadership from the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA), Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) Excellence in Teaching and as the Faculty Member of the Year. Chad also severs on his local elected city council.
